1st Edition of Mental Health Awareness In The Wild.
Mental health conversations often happen in boardrooms, hospitals, or online spaces—but what about the small towns, villages, or community centers far from the spotlight? At HUGS, we believe that mental health support should not be a luxury—it should be a right for everyone, no matter where they live.
That’s why we’ve taken our mission to the grassroots, championing mental health awareness “in the wild”—in rural areas, informal settlements, schools, churches, and marketplaces across Kenya.
These are the places where stigma still thrives. Where emotional pain is often misunderstood. Where silence can feel like the only option.
But HUGS is working to change that narrative.
Through our outreach clinics, awareness campaigns, school programs, and community events, we bring quality mental health education, support, and resources directly to the people. We create safe spaces where stories can be shared, feelings can be named, and healing can begin.
Our goal? To reach those often left out of the conversation, empower them with knowledge, and help them realize: You are not alone. Your mental health matters. Help is available.
Whether it’s a mobile counseling session in a rural center or a peer support circle in a school yard, HUGS is committed to making mental health accessible, relatable, and human.
Because true mental health awareness doesn’t stay behind walls—it travels. It listens. It meets people where they are.
Thanks a lot to everyone who showed up, hope you all learnt something n still had fun…
See you all at the next event.
