A soccer match with the Undugu Girls team.

Armed with umbrellas, raincoats, scarfs and gumboots we marched to kibera. Why do so many of you insist on holding graduation parties and weddings in December though, mmmh?

Allow me to indulge you on something HUGs does called Art Therapy. Summon the Picasso and Michaelangelo spirit in this paragraph, dear reader. For this particular visit, we gave the girls a chance to color their world (insert Peter Marangi\’s laughter here) on papers with drawings and messages like:

πŸ€— Be kind to your mind.
πŸ€— Think positive
πŸ€— Life is full of possibilities
πŸ€— Live, laugh, love
πŸ€— A calm mind

Because it is the end of the year, we topped it up with what we call the Gratitude Jar. Here, the girls were handed another sheet for them to write what they were thankful for. What are you thankful for?

During the festive season, your mental health should take center stage as you:

πŸ€— Visit friends and relatives.
πŸ€— Take that vacation you\’ve been planning and saving for.
πŸ€— Plan and attend all the end-of-year parties.
πŸ€— Slaughter that animal (vegetarians and vegans exempted of course)
πŸ€— Eat to exhaustion doing nothing else other than wait for the new year.
πŸ€— Take account of the year and feel regret, hope, pride, lonely, sad, happy, etc

It’s been a fruitful and impactful year for HUGs. To all our partners, donors, and volunteers we are deeply thankful for everything.
